Located in the heart of Taichung's Seventh Redevelopment Zone, Xin Lang Ri Hui combines world-class design with premium residential specifications. Its exterior was designed by Pritzker Prize-winning architect Richard Meier, known for a pure white modernist aesthetic. Two towers of different heights connect through a central core, creating a silhouette that balances movement and stillness on the city skyline. Its most distinctive feature is the gently curved translucent glass curtain wall of the south tower, which resembles a billowing white sail. It admits abundant daylight while preserving privacy and, together with the mid-level sky garden in the north tower, creates a dynamic yet private living environment. The architect's distinctive design language and innovative materials establish a new aesthetic benchmark for urban luxury housing.
Design Concept and Features
Contemporary Design and Personal Comfort: The project balances natural light with privacy. Clear, fritted and frosted glass are layered with rhythmic horizontal metal elements to create the pure yet richly layered facade associated with white modernist architecture. In the twin-tower composition, the south tower presents an elegant curve to the city, while the more rectilinear north tower contains a mid-level sky garden that offers residents a quiet urban retreat. Richard Meier brings modernist design into the local context, emphasizing geometric order and sculptural form to create architecture that is progressive and harmonious.
Leadfu's Integrated One-Stop Service
We applied our integrated one-stop service throughout detailed design and construction of Xin Lang Ri Hui's curtain wall. With extensive use of shaped glass and composite materials, our team coordinated early technical consultation, material selection and structural analysis with fabrication, installation and quality control to realize the architect's vision. In-house collaboration resolved challenges in curved glazing and ecological planting, ensuring that each pane and component met both design and quality requirements and providing dependable engineering support for this international-standard residential project.
Spatial Planning and Facade Design
- Integrated Functions:The 41-story luxury residential development contains approximately 148 homes. Residents have access to a private clubhouse spanning three floors and nearly 1,000 ping, together with a swimming pool, gym, banquet hall and other shared facilities. Proximity to the civic center, opera house and Maple Garden combines everyday convenience with cultural and landscape amenities in a quiet, luxurious urban setting.
- Energy-Efficient Facade:White translucent glass defines the exterior. The sail-like south tower facade diffuses daylight, reduces glare and preserves privacy. The north tower's sky gardens and terraces introduce vertical greenery, expansive views and outdoor space. A mix of glazing materials and linear metal elements creates changing effects in different light, giving the building a contemporary appearance that responds to its surroundings.
- Environmental Responsibility and Innovation:An international team brought advanced structural and building-services technologies to the project. High-performance glass and insulation improve energy efficiency and reduce cooling demand in individual homes, while vertical planting and sky gardens enhance the setting and air quality. Internationally renowned interior designers Yabu Pushelberg combine artistic expression with functionality, reflecting an innovative approach to luxury living.
